#236 Forum Rules

Posted by Greg Morton on 22 September 2012 - 09:58 AM

*Rules still under development*

Hello everybody!

Thanks for joining the forums. For the most part, we like to keep things pretty relaxed around here. There are a few rules that you should be aware of though, and we reserve the right to add more as we think of them! For your convenience, I've divided them up into two sections.

Common Sense Forum Rules:

These are the rules you should automatically know, things like:

1. Keep your threads in the relevant sections, and your posts relevant to the thread. All links in posts should be relevant to the content in the thread.

2. Don't post anything sexually explicit, discriminating, disgusting, excessively profane, etc. This includes pictures and text.

3. Don't link to anything that contains pornography or illegal content.

4. Don't say anything positive about the PS3.

5. Don't impersonate other users.

6. Staff decisions are law. Arguing will get you nowhere but banned.

(Okay one of these might not be a real rule. Again, common sense people)

Additional TVGB Forum Rules:

These are rules that might not be so common sense, but are our rules anyways so deal with it, like:

1. You can put whatever you'd like in your signature, just keep it looking clean. Got a website or a product? Feel free to link to it. Images should be smaller than about 350x200, and don't use an excessive amount of text.

That's all for now, but more will be coming soon! :)

#6 Favorite Movie Based Video Game?

Posted by Jimmy Khanway on 10 July 2012 - 08:54 PM

Going to have to go with Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. It's the only movie based video game that I can think of that I actually went out of my way to find and play years after it came out. I maxed out Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli and I still went back through and played over and over and over.

#5 Favorite Movie Based Video Game?

Posted by blasdetejas on 10 July 2012 - 07:56 PM

I was wondering if I'm the only person that has played some enjoyable video games based on movies. The main one that got me thinking of this topic is Terminator 2 on NES. It was the first game my parents got me (after Super Mario of course). I remember the adrenaline rush I would get trying to get away from the 18-wheeler in the ditch.

Anyone want to share good experiences with movie based video games?

#28 Does anyone have a working Dreamcast they are willing to sell?

Posted by Jimmy Khanway on 20 July 2012 - 08:00 PM

Ok, the Sega Dreamcast is hands down my favorite console of all time. I broke mine wayyy back in the day during a pretty heated Ready To Rumble match but that's neither here nor there and I want a new one...well not exactly a new one but a "new" one. You gotta have at least 2 controllers to make this thing a deal and if you have any games let me know so I can tell you which ones I want and which ones you should smash with a hammer.

Also, if you know some motherfucker who has one let me know...or else.Posted Image

#194 Any MOBA or RTS players?

I'm a somewhat new player of Company of Heroes and Starcraft 2, but avid addict of League of Legends and I'll like to play with some more people if interested.

#140 Do you play WoW?

Posted by Greg Morton on 20 August 2012 - 05:17 AM

I recently picked up World of Warcraft again, after many years of not playing it. It's been fun, but I'm seriously lacking people to play with. All of my old friends are long gone, and all the new people that I meet are douchebags.

I'm thinking about doing a server transfer, hoping to find one that might be more active during the evening hours west coast time.

If anyone has any suggestions, or if you play yourself and have a good group of people, let me know!

#576 Microsoft E3 2013

So, we don't have an Xbox One section yet! This topic will be in regards to opinions of this year's E3. How did you guys think Microsoft did? Did they live up to your standards? Did they deliver? How do you feel about the 499 price tag on the Xbox One as well?

#453 Anyone looking for a cool LAN party option in Atlanta

Posted by I Love Halo4 on 23 November 2012 - 11:36 PM

Has anyone seen th enew video game trucks around the city?  There are a few cool ones I have played on but the best ones have surround-sound with intense vibrating seats.  When we played it at the Black Ops 2 release party it was intense with 16 players battling zombies for 3 full hours of demo time.

This is the one we used www.game-cave.com check it out.

#45 Most Anticipated Games

Posted by Profexxion on 28 July 2012 - 07:44 PM

There are quite of few titles in the pipeline (some kind of hazy) and I'm curious about what everyone is most excited for. We can go from games coming out in the next couple months, to ones not even done yet.

I personally am excited for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, especially since its confirmed not to be canceled. What about you all?

#38 Legend of Zelda symphony

Posted by Greg Morton on 27 July 2012 - 05:56 PM

Whose been to one of these? Or planning on going to one of these?

I went to the one in San Francisco back in April, and it was fucking EPIC. So much so, that I'm going again in San Jose December 14th, and I'd do it again December 15th, 16th, and 17th if I had the option too.

Every Zelda fan should go to one of these. They've completed most of their tour this year I believe, but there are still some major cities on their list. If you happen to be in San Jose around December, get some tickets and let me know!

#170 Final Fantasy VII Remake

Posted by Profexxion on 28 August 2012 - 07:14 PM

Just read this old article and felt I'd post some thoughts here as opposed to commenting there (plus it won't allow me to log in :/) http://www.1up.com/p...?pager.offset=0

This is the comment I'd typed up:

Its tough to believe a game in such high demand will not be remade. Look at Zone of the Enders. It didn't sell amazing numbers, but a third game is in development now after so many people petitioned for it. Granted, I understand the money side, but there are other ways to get that taken care of. Kickstarter for example. Others have gotten millions of IDEAS. Imagine what a proven company can earn.

I'd like to hear peoples thoughts on this.

#126 Will Ouya Be Successful?

Posted by random92 on 14 August 2012 - 10:55 PM

Simple answer, no. A longer answer would be:

No, and why would any gamer want to make the switch? People play Angry Birds when they've got nothing else to do. Ouya will be in the home, where all of my gaming systems are. It's really not a tough decision, £99 to play a game that costs pence on my phone (I admit there will be other games, but no other mobile game has got such a big storm about it), or continue playing the AAA games I've come to know and love on my existing consoles, the next generation consoles to be released over the next few years AND my recent entry into the world of serious PC gaming

#12 Should classic characters ever 'retire'?

Posted by Jimmy Khanway on 18 July 2012 - 02:48 AM

This guy is right in some aspects of his article, but for the most part I have to disagree with it entirely. Characters like Mario, Samus, Laura Croft, Link, Donkey Kong and so on have no need to be retired. They can be rerun a million times and never lose their flavor.

In my opinion, this guy doesn't know the difference between classic characters and characters that have a long lasting face value. Classic characters are the ones that have been "retired", that can be brought up in videogame conversations for nostalgia purposes and characters with a long lasting face value can be used over and over again because no matter how old they are, they are still fun as hell to play. Take Mario for example, dude has been running circles around the videogame world for decades and the reason for this is simple. HIS GAMES ARE FUN AS HELL TO PLAY! Same thing goes for Link. HIS GAMES ARE FUN AS SHIT TO PLAY! Plus, Nintendo doesn't just stick to the same old style of play for all their characters, they adapt to the times.

There are a few videogame characters on my list that really should be retired...and when I say retired I mean put in a coffin, have a nice funeral service, buried and then dump concrete over their grave for good measure. Dynasty Warriors as a whole should be retired (Not exactly sure if they are actually retired right now), I personally never liked their games and they're all exactly the same. Master Chief should be retired BUT not until he's in a few more Halo games because he seems like the kind of character they would suck the life and bone marrow out of to make $10. Sonic just needs to take a dirt nap and stay there, his games were great in the 1990's and early 2000's, but now his games are just plain awful and now he needs to be put down. Duke Nukem...this dude is my #1. Three words are all I need to explain why he is #1...Duke Nukem Forever.

The only thing this guy's article was right about, was that some videogame characters should just lay down, but he just came across as a huge Nintendo hater. Haters gonna hate, Nintendo gonna make stupid money.

#11 Should classic characters ever 'retire'?

Posted by Greg Morton on 18 July 2012 - 12:28 AM

I'd like to get other people's opinions on this article.

http://www.gamesta.c...need-to-retire/

The way I see it, the author has everything backwards. He seems to think companies like Nintendo that are throwing out the same characters over and over again are worse than companies like Infinity Ward that throw out the same game over and over again. I'd say he's dead wrong, and should be crucified for it. :P
